Hi friends! It's that time of year again, when I shamelessly ask you to support pediatric healthcare. This time is just a bit different- a little over a year ago, I graduated from LSU (geaux tigers) and moved across the country for my dream job. Today, I work at CHOC Children's (Children's Hospital of Orange County) and get to do what I love every single day. A couple of months after I started, I got the privilege of meeting THE Jordin Jackson and her family. As the year has gone by, I have gotten to know not only Jordin, but her awesome siblings, Jocelyn and Josh, and amazing parents, Karen and Josh. When I tell you this family rocks, I mean it. Let's take it back to before I was even around.. Jordin is what her mom so perfectly describes her as- a sickle cell warrior. (I won't make you read through all of the details, but feel free to watch the video below to learn a little bit more about Jordin and sickle cell). A couple of years ago, Jordin and her family were at CHOC and they realized that the hospital didn't have this one specific machine that could count the percentage of sickle cells in Jordin's body. So what did they do? They fundraised to buy one for the hospital, that is still used today for all of the kiddos who need it. Pretty awesome, right? That's why I'm trying to raise $500 in support of Jordin and all of the amazing kids who are treated at CHOC. On August 27th, I will be walking with 14,000 of my closest friends in support of CHOC Children's through Disneyland, California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. If you're in Southern California that weekend, or are in the mood for a quick vacation, I encourage you to walk with us that morning! If not, please help me reach (and hopefully exceed) my fundraising goal for this amazing event. Last year y'all helped me reach $10,000 FTK (for the kids), so surely we can do it again!
