I am so excited to be participating in the 2017 CHOC Walk in the Park at the Disneyland Resort on August 27th to raise funds for CHOC Children's Hospital! This walk is especially close and important because of how it has directly affected someone that I personally know and adore. Carter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in 2015. Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (also called ALL or acute lymphocytic leukemia) is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. This type of cancer usually gets worse quickly if it is not treated. Thankfully the wonderful staff at CHOC was able to develop a plan quickly and have been treating Carter for almost 2 years. When I visited Carter at the CHOC hospital at the beginning of his treatment, I could not help but notice how much care the hospital makes to educate the kids about their disease and help them to understand the treatment they are receiving. CHOC does not just treat the disease but helps the children participate in a meaningful way. Carter has not only been fighting like a champion, he has thrived over the last 2 years. He just recently was able to finish a season with his tee-ball league. He was not able to last year due to his compromised immune system. Carter is just one of the many children treat and cared for by CHOC. Please help me exceed my fundraising goal for the benefit of the children and families of Southern California.
